Contact & Enquire: Sumba Wedding Planning Partner

Tell us what you have in mind and we will come back with an honest orientation, then introduce you to one vetted planning partner. Free, and with no obligation attached.

How to reach us

WhatsApp is fastest

WhatsApp +62 811 9941 919 is the preferred channel. Voice messages are fine; text is faster for us to triage. Email works too. We reply typically within one working day from Monday to Saturday, and Sunday responses may be slower. We are on WITA, UTC+8, the same as Bali and Singapore.

There is no cost and no obligation at any point. Our guidance is free. If you proceed with a vetted partner through our introduction, they may pay us a referral fee at no extra cost to you. No one can pay to appear in our recommendations or to change what we publish, and we will tell you honestly if Sumba is not the right fit for what you have in mind.

Six things

What to include in your enquiry

The more of these you send, the more useful our first reply can be.

01

Rough guest count

An approximate number is enough. It is the single variable that decides most of the rest, including whether Sumba works at all.

02

Preferred month or season

Even a window helps. Peak dry season behaves very differently from the shoulder months, and availability differs sharply.

03

Symbolic or legal ceremony

This changes the paperwork, the timeline and sometimes the venue conversation. Most couples choose symbolic; either answer is fine.

04

Budget band and format

A band, not a number. Plus whether you are picturing a full buyout, an elopement, or something in between. Nationality too, if your question is a legal one.

Setting expectations

What we can and cannot do

Limestone cliffs above the ocean on the southwest Sumba coast We can

Orient you honestly

Answer general questions about the island, explain the symbolic versus legal distinction in practical terms, give you a straight assessment of whether Sumba fits your guest count and budget, and connect you to a vetted planning partner who works here. We will also tell you when the answer is that another island suits you better.

Free, no obligation
Resort villa and terrace at a luxury property on the Sumba coast We cannot

Quote, book or advise legally

We cannot quote fixed prices, because no property at this tier publishes them. We cannot confirm date availability or guarantee a booking, because we are not the venue. We cannot give legal advice, and we do not book travel. Anyone offering you a fixed Sumba venue price without your dates and guest count is guessing.

Not a planner or agency

One warm introduction

Four steps, and no list of ten names. You contact us, we ask a few clarifying questions, we send you an orientation note with the honest picture for your brief, and then we make a warm introduction to a single vetted partner who fits it. One introduction, not a scattergun, because a partner who is right for a 20-guest elopement is rarely right for a full buyout.

One partner, chosen for your brief

For anything legal or visa related we will point you at primary sources rather than guess: your embassy, the local civil registry (Catatan Sipil), and where needed a licensed Indonesian attorney. Most nationalities visiting for a symbolic ceremony enter on a tourist Visa on Arrival.

Before you write

Four things worth knowing

01

Lead time is long here

Eighteen to twenty-four months is not unusual for peak dry-season dates. If your date is inside twelve months, say so in the first message and we will tell you straight away what is realistic.

02

Twenty to fifty is the sweet spot

The island’s confirmed full-service venue holds roughly 70 adults. There is no large chain hotel with 200-plus rooms anywhere on Sumba, so the guest list shapes everything else.

03

Everyone routes through Bali

Tambolaka (TMC) for the west where the venues are, Waingapu (WGP) for the east. Block time from Denpasar is roughly 85 minutes on a turboprop. There is no direct international service.

04

Rough questions are welcome

You do not need a finished brief. "We are thinking maybe 30 people, sometime in July, is this mad?" is a perfectly good first message and we will answer it properly.

Legal and visa

Where we stop and a professional starts

We describe the legal landscape. We do not advise on it. Indonesian marriage law is complex and varies by nationality, religion and local jurisdiction, and the Sumba civil registry offices are in Waingapu and Waitabula rather than in Bali, which is a detail often missed. For anything that will affect a decision, go to your embassy, the local Catatan Sipil, or a licensed Indonesian attorney. We will happily explain what the questions are; we will not pretend to be the answer.

Straight answers

Before you write, answered

What is the difference between a symbolic ceremony and a legal marriage here?

A symbolic ceremony carries no legal effect under Indonesian law; you are not married in the eyes of the Indonesian state. A legal marriage requires both partners to share one of six recognised religions and registration with the civil registry in East Nusa Tenggara. Most international couples marry legally at home and hold the symbolic ceremony here, which is standard practice rather than a workaround.

How many guests can realistically attend?

The island’s confirmed full-service luxury venue holds roughly 70 adults. A guest list of 20 to 50 is the sweet spot for most Sumba weddings. Above 80 you are into multiple properties and substantial transfer logistics on rough roads, which is a different kind of event to plan and budget for.

What is the best time of year for an outdoor ceremony?

Mid-June through late August is the core recommendation: reliably dry, lower humidity and clear skies. West Sumba, where most venues sit, tends to have a longer wet season running roughly November through April, so the reliable dry window there starts a little later than in the east.

Do we need a special visa to hold a ceremony?

For a symbolic, non-legal ceremony, no. The tourist Visa on Arrival is quote-only — ask for price — for 30 days and is extendable once for a further 30. Verify current eligibility and fees on the official Indonesian immigration portal close to your travel date, since rules change.

Why does a Sumba wedding cost more than a comparable Bali event?

Remote logistics. Sumba has limited local wedding-vendor infrastructure, so most specialists fly in from Bali with flights, buffer nights, accommodation and per diems, and decor arrives as freight. Less local competition and a boutique-only accommodation tier do the rest.

Ready when you are

Send your guest count, a target month and whether you are thinking symbolic or legal. We will reply within a working day with an honest read, and an introduction if it makes sense.
